In this blog post, we will explain some of the tips and tricks we use when creating SEO friendly content for blog posts or even pages on websites. When you write content for your website, making a few minor adjustments can have a huge impact on the search engine rankings.
Content keyword density
During the late 1990’s, some developers would simply mention the keyword as many times as possible. This worked for a few years, until Google caught this spam tactic. Then during the early 2000’s some algorithm updates started to focus on websites with less and less mentions to the keywords. Going from around 10%-8% keyword density, and today in 2020 you find 2%-5% being the ideal density. We have tested a verity of possibilities, and found that to deliver the best results. So simply, every 100 words, you try to only mention your keyword about 2 to 5 times.. Just make it feel natural, and if possible attempt to use the keyword early on in your content. Then just write natural. Like many things, its quality, not quantity. We also suggest reading this Yoast blog about keyphrase density, if you need more information.
Website image to text ratio
Readers and even Google like it when you include images, or even videos about the topic you’re writing about. But try not to overuse them, unless you really need to. We found about 1 image to every 1000 words, to be a nice balance with the image to text ratio in SEO friendly content. It’s that simple, and of course include meta alt text on images that explain what the image shows.
This would also apply to images and embedded objects added to your content. Like most Search Engine Optimisation aspects, focus on quality and not quantity.
Adding deep links and outbound links
Most people overlook this, but adding deep links or more simply links to other pages of your website. Can help empower other pages of your website, this can help your overall ranking at the end of the day. Just check or even try to talk about other pages or blog posts you have written already. Then just make that text link to the other page that explains in more detail about that topic. Such as learning how to improve your website rankings on search engines for free. Adding outbound links to other high level or news worthy websites if possible. This just shows you are trying to give quality references to your readers, but try not to overdue this, as linking to other websites can also drain your SEO power. In the past, I would suggest a no-follow link, but honestly even a follow here and there is a good thing to have. Just try to mix it up and think about what you feel is best.
